Max`s Eatz and Fresh Bakery in Oakland

Terrible, over priced food..unappetizing and made me feel sick after a few bites.Business model is based on high turn over of passengers passing through who won't return.This place would never survive outside the confines of airport mark ups and lack of variety.

My wife's favorite sandwich. I bought a plane ticket I didnt use just to go into the terminal. Highly recommend.

For airport food it's traditional Max's. As for customer service they get 10 STARS! Incredibly kind generous and thoughtful staff. Exceptional customer service! Probably the best I've ever seen at Oakland airport.

Gross, gross, gross. For a $15 sandwich I expected better than this beef sandwich. It's a case of typical airport food - bad and expensive. Never again will I buy a pre made sandwich sitting in the fridge. Max's name didn't help either. The sandwich was dry and tasteless. They ran out of mayonnaise packets so the guy had to get me some from the open jar in the kitchen. The bearded gentleman who helped me was nice though.

Worst 16 dollar sandwich you can buy. Don't bother asking for anything, its 12 13 dollars to start and a dollar for cheese, a dollar for lettuce, a dollar for tomato's. If you're desperately hungry then this will do. Otherwise, wait until you get home.

ZERO friendliness. Nevermind your paying airport prices, you will also receive super rude customer service.

Expensive even for airport food! It apparently takes a manager to change a transaction (even before submitting payment). Mediocre sandwich.

Got overcharged and order was wrong. I ordered an egg and cheese bagel with no meat, confirmed both when ordering and paying that I wanted no meat. Sure enough, got bacon AND got charged for bacon.The food itself was good, but how do you screw up service that badly?

Gross, dry, costs too much, and an indifferent staff makes for a bad experience. But I guess it is the airport so what can I expect? Next time I'm at this airpirt, any place but here for me.

Expensive, slow, food so-so, what's news at "don't have another choice" Airports? Soup super-salty and Clam Chowder tastes like those fake sweetener. AVOID!

I would give 0 if possible. Their grill “wasn’t working” so they could make no hot sandwiches. They were out of soups. Then the final attempt the two “grown” men working were acting like punk little boys and walked away ignoring us when we tried to pick something else they might actually have in stock🤷‍♂️. Probably the poorest example of a restaurant I have EVER seen. Save yourself the frustration and don’t go!

It's an airport, where people have strict timelines and you're going to make sandwiches that slow? Terrible. Don't even bother to try with this place!

I have been going to Max's opera cafe since I was a kid. DO NOT GO. IT WAS HORRIBLE. I threw to $20 sogging gross sandwich away.

$23 For a sandwich with thin ass bread that fell apart chips and a drink......Tables were dirty and the staff were not very pleasant at all and the guy taking my order did not understand or speak English good at all.....if you are looking for a good meal and a reasonable price DO NOT eat here..... Nothing special about this place at all

I star is 3 to many. I came asked the grumpy old guy what timethey opened he said 5:30. So I waited and at 5:50 I said screw it and left to Burger King. After eating at BK came back and still not open at 7:20. All I will say is read the reviews. All very true

The food was really good. Huge helpings. I got the croissantwich. I'm a big guy and had trouble finishing. Everything was very fresh. Of course its more expensive, it's an airport. Staff isn't a big customer service personality. More of a get the orders out. I reccomend you try to escape the 3 Starbucks on the way in and head to gate 28 where this hardy breakfast is.

Food poisoning

Start with staff was rude and just didn’t care. Second food is heated in the microwave. For $17 I expected at least no microwave be involved in my food.

I waited in line seventeen minutes and tewnty two seconds before giving up. Can you believe I wasn't upset for that long. Normally I get upset after ten minutes of waiting for anything. One dude caught a glimpse of my phone asking if I time places that requires wait? By this time we both were waiting in line, but he didn't mind the wait only because his plane won't be taking off for over an hour. He show me he's Local Guide from Chicago, but he wants to get pay for it. He said I can spot a paid local guide easily. Oops! Time to go. In the end we exchange information and both step out of line since it wasn't worth waiting watching workers slowly slicing meat putting together a over price sandwich. I was hungry earlier then this small chat some how made me not hungry anymore.

Out of their "world famous" pastrami by 7:30 PM? And rude about it....no thanks.

Best place to eat in the terminal! Pastrami and corned beef were very tender and flavorful. A top 10 Reuben. BLT had an enormous amount of bacon. Our sandwich maker took great care in his craft and the staff was very friendly!

I waited for 20 minutes in line wanting to get an omelette. I finally have someone ask me for my order and he tells me breakfast is done as it’s now 11:05am and breakfast ended at 11am. HORRIBLE customer service Never will I come back

Stood in line for 10 minutes to order "Max's famous Reuben" only to be told that they are out of sauerkraut. Put a sign up seriously. You had one job!!!!

Stopped for a quick breakfast bagel before flight. Waited 20 minutes in line. Mistake! Sign said $10.99 but charged $12.93. so they are tacking on extra charges which they don't tell you about and is not shown on receipt. Sales tax in Oakland is 9% so it should have put the total at $11.98, so I was over charged $1. When asked about I was told it is what it says. Should have just walked away with that rude attitude and unscrupulous business practices of padding the bill.

Very spendy, good tasting a quick though.

The sandwich I got was the turkey, bacon, Swiss. It did have a lot of meat and the sandwich itself was very good. However, the server helping me seemed bothered when I asked her to toast my sandwich. She only toasted the bread but I wanted it warm. And to pay $17.80 for a SANDWICH was a little excessive. My goodness. That was a lot.

Don’t order the turkey bacon Swiss club unless you want to pay 1.5 on top of the 14.99. I’ve never seen anything like it.

Slow and rude service providing overpriced mediocre food. Poor setup forcing customers to swing up to the pay counter to read the menu, but then forcing customers back behind a sign to order. Horrible experience. The only pro is the view of a beautiful sunrise as you wait for your order

I stopped by max eats and fresh bakery to purschase a bagel around 5am. My self and about 5 other passangers were in line. After being in line for a minute or so the gentleman behind the counter who appeared from indian descent with glasses walked to the back without greeting us. The other gentleman behind the counter from Hispanic descent notifed us that they werent open untill 530am. It was very deceiving because all their lights were on and they appeared open. They turned away more than 10 customers while atleast another 10 were seated waiting to be served. I was then notified that they are supposed to be open at 4am along with the other stores. Very disappointed.

The food isnt terrible, but the employees are... This is basically a jobs program. Go across the hall to Andalé.. They seem to at least care and hustle.

Friendly staff, delicious clam chowder and the staff was also very accommodating to my special requests.

Theres a guy working here that decides what your having on your sandwich instead of asking you. Stay away from him!!!!

Service was absolutely horrible. Waited patiently in line for about 20 mins (9am) with my 5yr old for a breakfast bagel that I didn’t even get to order. Management should really give two s**** and turn things around. Prices ranged from about $11.99-$15.99. Ended up getting a banana and OJ for my kid and nothing else. 👎🏼👎🏼

The pastrami sandwichs and clam chowder are great. FYI - the "big cup" isn't big at all. The "big bowl" isn't even a bowl and it's not big. Seems like a good place but you can tell that the employees don't want to be there.

I was waiting in line to give my order and the older gentleman refused to take my order. Even after the gentleman behind the cash register said something to him he continued to take orders from people behind me! I finally left.

It's not even noon, they've run out of side dishes. Side dishes are included in the premium cost you'll pay for these sandwiches, but you won't get a discount when you don't get a side dish. Also, what kind of sandwich shop doesn't have onions for their sandwiches? What if I want onion breath on the airplane?

We went there at lunchtime and they were out of tomatoes and pickles and the sourdough bread was two days old.. Other than that, it was great. Someone is not paying attention to this business. HaHa.
